The power is out at my house right now because I plugged my Presto Heat Dish into an outlet that is on the same breaker as another outlet that James has loaded with gadgets up in his room. So here I am thumbing this out on my phone, under a blanket in a dark cold house, wondering if my power will come back on and what part I might play in it. Before the power went out I was biking home from Brendan's, listening to Taylor Swift on my headphones and thinking about the book I started reading yesterday called "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle." So far it is a good book and I'm glad i started reading it. In fact, the book is resting on my chest right now, covering it like a bra. Last night Brendan and I were talking about psychopaths and, supposing their existence to be the result of shoddy genetics, we decided that there might also be an equally small population born with too much empathy--like Ghandi or Jesus or me...Psych!

Kyna and I were talking about the slot machines at the Village Market and how they used to play the same melody over and over after the gamblers cranked the levers. I couldn't remember the tune, but Kyna said she could and tried to remind me of it over gmail chat. All of her "da dee doo da da dee doo"s ended up in a big wtf from me so she proposed I make a song around the melody I remembered. So, I kind of did, but in my version the crazy slots surface at the end, all fuzzed and confused and wacked out like a true blue memory that I know I had, but probably lost and reinvented based on what I thought it really was.

Jeong and I made this over the web a few weeks ago. All I have to say is that it's hard making songs online, especially when you know the person you're working with is so talented. Jeong mixed it all and wound up the drums, while i went dorky on the water organ. The result is goofy and lo-fi, but ok. Next post i'll up the casino song that Kyna wanted me to do...
